Bill Maher

On the season premiere of Real Time with Bill Maher, Bill talked about the election coverage and how African-American women will be one of the biggest voting blocks this election. And, because of this, he had heard that African-American women make most of their decisions in the beautyshop.

Well, in today's New York Times, there are two separate articles, here and here, of African-American women being interviewed in beautyshops! And, this isn't just about politics.

It does seem like the MSM has a heard mentality. Because one person finds some relevance somewhere, every journalist and media source ends up in the same place.

Revised Web Site

I am in the process of updating and revising my web site. I am rolling the pieces out bit-by-bit, but I don't want to do a shout-out until it is all finished.

All that being said, there are parts of this site that are working and there are part that are "under construction".
Since I went back to freelancing, I have been so incredibly busy trying to juggle multiple jobs AND update this site.

Please be patient...it will be done within the next two weeks.

I haven't even had a chance to write about Britney, Dr. Phil or New Hampshire yet!

Clinton and the "mean kids"

I was reading a blog post last night about how the MSM is covering Hillary Clinton. Apparently, Senator Clinton went on the press bus yesterday morning to give them "coffee". The reaction from the media was telling. Stone cold silence. Glenn Greenwald has an excellent post about this.

The gist of this is how the press acts like they're still in High School and don't actually objectively report the news. They actually just want the popular and powerful to like them. If the press thinks they are liked, they give that person favorable coverage.

This type of behavior would explain why President Bush and the Iraq war have not been held accountable by the media until recently (and even know they give him a pass).

There is a great comment by Candy Crowley of CNN about how ugly Dennis Kucinich is. That is her concern, whether or not the person is attractive. I can't stop laughing about this. Had she looked at pictures of our former Presidents? Granted, many of them served as President before TV existed. Since Kennedy, candidates need to be prepared for TV, that doesn't mean they need to be attractive.

The Shock Doctrine

So, while working today, I ended up listening to Air America radio. It was all rebroadcasted content (everybody is still on vacation). But, Naomi Wolf was on today talking about her book , "The Shock Doctrine", and corresponding article in The Guardian.

Ms. Wolfe did extensive research about different fascist and authoritarian regimes in the 20th century and found all had 10 basic elements in common as the regimes took over:

1. Invoke a terrifying internal and external enemy

2. Create a gulag

3. Develop a thug caste

4. Set up an internal surveillance system

5. Harass citizens' groups

6. Engage in arbitrary detention and release

7. Target key individuals

8. Control the press

9. Dissent equals treason

10. Suspend the rule of law

She goes into great detail about each of these in the article and book. And she did a really good, and slight disturbing explanation about them on the radio show. Basically, to some degree, everyone of these things has occurred here in the US since 9/11. That meaning, are we on the way to be losing our republic?

Really Behind

So, I finally saw Knocked-Up today. I had no desire to see this movie when it came out this past summer. Maybe I was just being a film snob. Surprise! I haven't laughed that hard during a movie since I saw that Ronald Reagan film. And, at least, the laughs during Knocked-Up were earned intentionally.

The writing was incredibly sharp and very, very funny. Leslie Mann was so funny. She stole the show as the sister. I actually watched it twice it was so good. But, then, everybody already knows that, except me.
