NY Times ERROR

Bad news on the housing front. But even worse news for the New York Times, in general, is the grammatical error in the story–in the 4th paragraph, the use of "two" instead of "too". This is such a common error, this was taught in 7th grade english class. I can't believe that this got published. I have the paragraph here, because I am sure it will be fixed.

The problem boils down to supply and demand. As the home-buying season — that annual rite of spring and early summer — enters what is traditionally its busiest period, there are simply too many homes in many parts of the country, and two few people with the means to buy them. The situation is likely to get worse because a rising tide of foreclosures is flooding the market with even more homes, while a slack economy and tight mortgage market are reducing the pool of potential buyers.

Morning News

I am spending too much time listening to talk radio and reading political news. I think it is really starting to get to me.

David Brooks' column in the New York Times today is about Vice-Presidential choices. The standard thinking is a candidate picks a VP to get additional electoral votes. But, Brooks writes that this thinking is all wrong this year. And, he has several choices for Obama and McCain to pick based on governing. But, Brooks is being intellectually dishonest in his column. He writes several paragraphs or reasons why McCain should pick Tim Pawlenty, Governor of Minnesota, as his VP. Minnesota is a purple state. It used to be very blue, but has elected several Republicans statewide. In 1984, MN was the ONLY state to go to Mondale. Again, this used to be a very blue state.

According to polling data, there is a strong chance that McCain might win MN's electoral votes. Also, the Republican convention is in Minneapolis. So, picking Pawlenty as a VP candidate might help seal the deal in MN. And, this could be enough to put McCain in the White House. So, Brooks, who acts like an intellectual, is being completely dishonest in his column. And, I am sure he knows this.

Sydney Pollak dies

For somebody who loves films, this is really sad news. Sydney was a great director, producer and actor. His best film is probably Tootsie. Love that movie.

Ben Franklin quote

I came across this quote online today. Love it.

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.

Offensive Video

OK, these video clips are too much. Anchors dropping the f bomb, losing their temper and going off (track).
