Is it 'Gif' or 'Jif'...

I had no idea that this discussion even existed. I guess I came to the "internets" through creative services and EVERYBODY I knew, and everybody that taught me what I know, pronounced it Gif (with a hard G). In fact, books I read said both were acceptable, but most people used Gif. In fact, we would laugh at people (where I worked) that pronounced it like the peanut butter...Jif, because those people obviously knew nothing about file formats for print design and production.

Who knew that this debate actually existed....

My favorite is the last post in the above link that redirects the user here. This animation encapsulates EVERYTHING about the "internets"....and people who work creating "internets"

I can't get enough of these

Did Obama get "shaft"ed?

I, like everybody else, saw the cover of this week's New Yorker (I get it delivered) with some surprise. I thought it was hilarious. But, maybe because I work from home or maybe because I am crazy, I listen to talk radio and watch news shows all day. At the same time. And, I read blogs in the early morning and evening. Crazy. The last 24 hours has been insanity over this cover. I really think progressives have completely lost their sense of humor. And don't even get me started on the Press.

Maybe I am seeing a little of myself in the reaction (too strident, taking EVERYTHING so seriously), but, I mean we can't control what other people think or say. And, we are supposed to be a country that prides itself on free speech, in public. But,
some progressives seem to want to silence ANYTHING that might be an opposing view or offensive. I have never been bothered by PC crap. Whatever. But, it is really get out of hand now. Everybody is SO sensitive and nobody can say anything that could possibly hurt somebody else's feelings. Oye Gevalt.

Russ Feingold

He is probably the best senator that we have in the US right now. Spoke out against the war in Iraq. Voted against the patriot act. And, now has been stopping this FISA bill from moving forward. Listen to the video below to hear about the two problems with this bill.
